Sevenlines did not begin as a brand or a plan. It began as a purposeful constraint I gave myself, a way to press my mind into deep structure and see what I would produce. Structure and focus have been a practice I aim to master. Seven lines, that’s it. Full limits with no wandering allowed, and no room to hide inside long form. Just weekly compression of whatever can exist coherently inside of seven lines.
I didn’t expect what would happen once I started. How I would dive into the challenge, and settle in for the slow living that comes with building again. The way my mind began to organize itself around the constraint of the limited lines, how ideas that would have drifted off because they felt to long, instead found shape, because now, they had somewhere to go. It became something that requires consistency, not perfection. It was time to cross that line, and create a new body of work.
This publication is that body forming in real time.
The long view of Sevenlines has always been a book, built over years of digging into myself. A collection large enough that you can open it anywhere and land on something completely finished, seven lines, just for you. Similar to the way my book Keeper of Backwards Men has structured, but with new pieces of writing. Where Keeper of Backwards Men organized the writing from thirty years of my past, Sevenlines represents my present. And you’ll remember, in a familiar way, when you were here at the moment it posted.
That kind of work takes time. It takes repetition, consistency, and showing up long after the initial excitement of the idea has worn off and the slow pace sets in, continuing anyway. It also takes support.
Originlines is for the ones who choose to stand behind that process while it is still happening.
This is not a general membership. It is limited to twenty-five Founders. People who want to be a part of this during its becoming and decide, early, that it is worth backing in its unfinished state.
When you step into Originlines, your name will be printed in the final book as part of its foundation. You will receive a signed Founder’s Edition, a version that will include content that will never be released publicly or reprinted in any future edition. What you hold will be distinct from what everyone else eventually reads.
But more than that, you are making something possible in the present.
I write for a living. My publications are not side projects. It is how I sustain myself, how I build a life, and how I continue to maintain my journey. The people who choose to be Founders of my work are not just supporting a future book, they are supporting the ongoing ability to create it. They make sure I don’t have to choose between writing and taking care of my basic needs. They create stability where there would otherwise be strain.
I don’t want fans. I want supporters.
Sevenlines will take time to complete; four years of writing into this constraint every single week, and four years of allowing the deeper parts to form from a small seed. Founders are the ones who step into the root of this timeline.
If you are here, reading this, you are taking part in the work as it emerges. Originlines is for those who decide this stage is worth standing inside of, and choosing to stick around until completion.
Limited to twenty-five.
